About online study rooms
What is an online study room?
A virtual room where people study at the same time. Everyone works on their own task; seeing others working makes it easier to start and to keep going.
How do I find a study partner?
The easiest way is to join an open study room: you meet people studying at the same time and can chat with them. You can follow people you get along with, find them by username from the search box, and invite them to a focus group to study on one shared timer. If you'd rather study with just one person, the Study Buddy page (/en/buddy) pairs you with someone who wants to study right now.
Is joining a room free?
Yes. Browsing public rooms is free, and joining only needs a free account.
Do I need to turn on my camera or microphone?
No. Rooms have text chat and a Pomodoro timer; camera and microphone are never required.
Can I create my own study room?
Yes. With an account you can open your own room and keep it public, or let only your friends in with an invite code or password.
How do people study in the rooms?
Most rooms follow a Pomodoro rhythm: 25 or 50 minutes of focus, then a short break. "Start together" starts the same session length for everyone in the room at once.
